WHY DID YOU BECOME A NURSE PRACTITIONER?

I really value the opportunity to help equip people to maintain good health and prevent long-term issues from emerging in the first place. I came to women’s health because I wanted to help women be empowered in their healthcare choices. My work in women’s health has included helping with pregnancy and delivery in an inpatient setting before going on to work in outpatient settings like prenatal care, OB/GYN, contraception, reproductive health, and preventive health.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO TREATMENT?

I aim to empower patients to better understand the changes their bodies go through during various life changes and to make the best choices for themselves to maintain optimal health and prevent issues from developing over the long term. I also feel that it is very important that patients have a full understanding of how different treatments work so that they can fully consider all the available options and be confident about their path to healing every step of the way.

WHAT MAKES YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING PRM'S COMMUNITY OF PATIENTS?

I love to be able to provide solutions. It is not uncommon that our patients have really had a tough time finding solutions to their most bothersome symptomsI love that PRM offers a fix.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE PATIENT CARE?

I’m taking a necessary amount of time to just listen and hear my patients’ story. Their ups and downs, where their pain is, what has and hasn’t helped before, and just gathering information about what the patient feels – it’s important!   They need me to know that they’ve already done this or that and they need to feel validated in their experience. Most of my time spent with patients is having conversations. My exam is focused and brief, as the conversation about their pain experience really guides me much more than the physical exam, as far as the treatment plan goes.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB?

I really do enjoy being able to experience the joy and the relief that patients experience when they get answers to their questions and their pain is relieved. The positive outcome is one of my favorite things and I really enjoy teaching women about their bodies. When people can control their body and their life, this brings empowerment, and to women especially

WHAT DOES PRM'S MISSION OF "DECREASING THE TIM PATIENTS ARE SUFFERING WITH PELVIC PAIN" MEAN TO YOU?

When I see a patient and gather the information about their pain, I want to begin treatment fairly immediately. At PRM, patients don’t have to wait a week or two to come back – we can provide pain relief the day when we meet them for their first appointment.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON HELPNG THE POPULATION OF WOMEN SUFFERING WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS?

As someone with endometriosis, I have had many shared experiences with my patients in regard to health and challenges faced. I bring a level of understanding and empathy to those patients and my patients like to know that you can relate.

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT PELVIC HEALTH?

That it should really be viewed as your core and that it's going to affect other systems and other areas of your body. It deserves as much attention as your heart, lungs, and other areas. It is key, so making sure the core is healthy is important, as health spreads from the core.
